Rey Dau is the first dragon monster you'll encounter in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. This creature wields the lightning element, rendering it immune to lightning-based attacks. However, it's particularly vulnerable to other elements, especially water and ice. The most effective target is its head, boasting a 4-star weakness. If hitting the head proves challenging, aim for the wings, which have a 3-star weakness.
Avoid targeting the torso, as it's heavily armored. If the head is out of reach, the tail is a viable alternative. The legs are less ideal due to their strong protection. For status ailments, you can utilize all except Stun and Paralysis, as the dragon's lightning element makes these ineffective.
Use a Flash Pod
A key strategy to swiftly defeat Rey Dau is deploying a Flash Pod. This tool temporarily stuns the monster, providing a window to land precise hits. When Rey Dau unleashes its lightning attack, seize the moment to strike its horn, inflicting significant damage. Remember to activate Focus Mode to spot the glowing red horns.
Wear Element-Resistant Gear
If you're struggling to endure the fight, equip gear that enhances your elemental resistance. The Hope Armor set is highly recommended, featuring the Divine Blessing skill that mitigates damage. It also offers resistance to Lightning and Fire, making it perfect for this battle. Consider consuming a meal that boosts your elemental resistance as well.
If dodging proves difficult, position yourself near Rey Dau's legs in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. The dragon primarily attacks areas in front and behind it, so staying close to its legs minimizes your risk of being hit.
Pay Attention to the Environment
Throughout the battle, Rey Dau will move between different locations. In the open plains, utilize Vine Traps found on solitary trees to briefly stun the monster. Exercise caution when the dragon returns to its nest, as it employs a follow-up lightning attack that can easily stun you. Avoid rushing in this area to prevent a fatal shock.

How to Capture Rey Dau in Monster Hunter Wilds

In addition to defeating Rey Dau, you can earn rewards by capturing it in *Monster Hunter Wilds*. To do this, reduce the dragon's health until it's on the brink of death. Keep an eye out for the skull icon near the monster's icon on the mini-map. Once it appears, set a trap to capture the beast.
Given Rey Dau's lightning nature, Shock Traps are ineffective. Opt for a Pitfall Trap for a successful capture. Follow up with a Tranquilizer to prevent the creature from escaping. You have only a brief window to act, so be prepared.
