With the March 2025 update, *Fields of Mistria* introduces Essence Stones, essential for several new features that enhance your daily gameplay. Whether you're looking to automate your farm tasks or boost your crafting capabilities, these stones are key. Let's dive into how to find, craft, and utilize Essence Stones effectively in *Fields of Mistria*.
Where To Find Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
Since the March 2025 update, *Fields of Mistria* has scattered Essence Stones throughout the mines within chests. My first encounter with these stones came while searching for items to break the Fire Seal on Floor 60, but keep your eyes peeled as chests can appear on any level across the existing biomes and floors. Be cautious of mimic enemies that disguise themselves as chests and can cause damage upon interaction.
Essence Stones come in four sizes: tiny, small, medium, and large. While the smaller stones are more common, diligent exploration can lead you to larger deposits. If you're struggling to find them, don't worry; you can also craft them once you've built the Stone Refinery inside the mines.

How To Craft Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
The Stone Refinery, introduced in the March 2025 update, becomes your go-to spot for crafting Essence Stones in *Fields of Mistria*. It's part of a new story quest where Adeline, along with Olric and Errol, enlist your help to build this refinery within the mines. Here's what you'll need to construct it:
- x200 Wood
- x400 Stone
- x5,000 Tesserae
Once the Stone Refinery is up and running, you can craft Essence Stones of various sizes using just Stone and Essence. The amount of materials required varies with the size of the stone, as detailed below:
**Tiny Essence Stone** | x5 Stone x5 Essence |
**Small Essence Stone** | x10 Stone x25 Essence |
**Medium Essence Stone** | x20 Stone x50 Essence |
**Large Essence Stone** | x40 Stone x100 Essence |
Beyond Essence Stones, the Stone Refinery is a versatile hub for crafting common materials, Refined Stone, and rare items like Obsidian and Diamond, making it indispensable for new builds and projects across Mistria.
How To Use Essence Stones in Fields of Mistria
The March 2025 update brings the auto-petter and sprinkler mechanics to *Fields of Mistria*, both of which rely on Essence Stones to operate. Larger stones provide a longer charge, with Large Essence Stones offering the most extended duration.
The auto-petter mechanic is enabled through the Animal Sprite Statue, which you can place inside Large Barns and Coops. It automatically pets all animals each day as long as an Essence Stone is powering it. You can find this statue in a concealed cave next to Errol’s house in the Narrows by using the Dragon’s Breath spell on the entrance. Once unlocked, you can craft additional statues as needed.
Similarly, the sprinkler mechanic is activated by the Water Sprite Statue. Place it anywhere on your farm to automatically water crops within a 2-tile radius when powered by an Essence Stone. You can craft more of these statues to cover larger farming areas. The statue, along with a crafting scroll, awaits on a small island east of the beach, just beyond the Lighthouse area. Access the island by swimming over and using Dragon’s Breath on the entrance.
As *Fields of Mistria* continues to evolve with updates from NPC Studio, Essence Stones are poised to play an even more significant role in your adventures.
NOTE: *Fields of Mistria* is currently in Early Access, and the content is subject to change. The above information is accurate as of Version 0.13.1 and will be updated as necessary if anything changes.
