On April 23, PlayStation and Sucker Punch Productions thrilled fans with the release of a new trailer titled "The Onryō’s List" for Ghost of Yōtei. This trailer not only showcases the game's gripping story and dynamic gameplay but also confirms its release date: October 2, 2025.
Ghost of Yōtei follows the journey of Atsu, set in the heart of Ezo (modern-day Hokkaido), as she seeks vengeance against the notorious Yōtei Six, who brutally murdered her family and left her for dead. Her quest for revenge targets each member of the group - The Snake, The Oni, The Kitsune, The Spider, The Dragon, and the elusive Lord Saito.
This standalone sequel unfolds 300 years after the events of Ghost of Tsushima. Earlier this year, Sucker Punch detailed some of the new features and enhancements that build upon the success of its predecessor, including new weapons and mechanics.
Hunt Down The Yōtei Six Your Way
Ghost of Yōtei empowers players with the freedom to pursue the Yōtei Six in any order they choose, allowing for a personalized path of revenge. Sucker Punch elaborated on these features in a detailed post on PlayStation.blog on April 23, offering insights into Atsu’s journey.
The game introduces an evolved approach to exploring the open world, providing players with greater freedom and a variety of experiences compared to Ghost of Tsushima. Beyond hunting the outlaws, players can track other dangerous targets, claim bounties, and seek out weapon sensei to master new skills.
As players traverse the expansive world of Ezo, they'll encounter familiar activities from the original game, such as the fan-favorite "Guiding Wind." A new feature also allows players to set up campfires anywhere in the open world, enhancing the sense of freedom and exploration.
