This marks a pivotal moment as chess prepares to make its debut as an official discipline at the Esports World Cup (EWC) in Riyadh in 2025, complete with a $1.5 million prize pool. As part of the expanding Gamers8 festival, the EWC now features 25 disciplines, positioning Saudi Arabia as the global hub of esports by 2030. Scheduled from June to August, the tournament boasts a total prize pool of $60 million, with points awarded across all disciplines influencing overall team rankings.
