NetherRealm Studios unveils gameplay footage of the T-1000, the final DLC character for Mortal Kombat 1's Khaos Reigns expansion, alongside the surprise announcement of Madam Bo as a new Kameo fighter.
The T-1000 gameplay showcases a range of attacks reminiscent of Terminator 2, utilizing its morphing abilities and signature weaponry. The character's moveset incorporates elements reminiscent of Baraka and Kabal, culminating in a liquid metal transformation and powerful uppercut similar to Glacius from Killer Instinct. Robert Patrick, the original T-1000 actor, provides voice and likeness for the character, showcased in a confrontation with Johnny Cage, and a brutal Fatality recreating the iconic truck chase scene from Terminator 2.
Madam Bo, a popular character from Mortal Kombat 1's main story, joins the roster as a Kameo fighter. Brief gameplay glimpses show her assisting the T-1000.
The T-1000 will be available via early access for Khaos Reigns owners on March 18th, with general release on March 25th. Madam Bo launches as a free update for Khaos Reigns owners on March 18th and as a separate purchase.
The T-1000 concludes the Khaos Reigns DLC, fueling speculation about future DLC packs. While Warner Bros. Discovery remains committed to the Mortal Kombat franchise, NetherRealm's next project remains unannounced, despite Ed Boon confirming its selection three years ago and ongoing support for Mortal Kombat 1. While many anticipate a return to the Injustice series, the studio's decision to release another Mortal Kombat title instead of alternating between franchises was influenced by the COVID-19 pandemic and the transition to a new Unreal Engine. Boon confirmed that the Injustice franchise remains a possibility.
