Intergalactic, new Neil Druckmann game, will be about religion and solitude

Neil Druckmann's highly anticipated game, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet, has finally unveiled some details about its intriguing setting, revealed during a recent Creator to Creator show appearance. The game takes place in an alternate future diverging from our timeline in the late 1980s. Central to the narrative is a new, dominant religion that emerges within the Intergalactic universe. Naughty Dog has invested years crafting this religion's rich lore, meticulously detailing its origins, evolution, and eventual distortions.

This religion's birthplace and initial spread are confined to a single, isolated planet, eventually becoming completely severed from the rest of the galaxy. The game's protagonist crash-lands on this very planet, finding herself utterly alone and facing the daunting challenge of survival. This solitary struggle forms a core theme of the project. Unlike previous Naughty Dog titles which often featured companions, Intergalactic: The Heretic Prophet throws the player into a situation demanding self-reliance and resourcefulness—a crucial element in their quest for escape.

Despite four years of development, a release date remains unannounced. For now, fans eagerly await further updates.
