Larian Reveals Exciting New Subclasses for Baldur

While many fans believed Patch 7 would mark the end of major updates for Baldur's Gate 3, Larian Studios has exciting news: another substantial update is slated for release in 2025. This update promises to enhance the gaming experience with crossplay support, a photo mode, and the introduction of 12 new subclasses, each offering unique mechanics to enrich gameplay.

Here’s a closer look at the four newly revealed subclasses:

Oath of the Crown Paladin

The Oath of the Crown Paladin is dedicated to upholding justice and order, prioritizing societal welfare. This subclass comes with the Divine Devotion ability, which not only absorbs incoming damage directed at allies but also restores their health simultaneously, making it a vital asset in team-based combat scenarios.

Arcane Archer

Combining martial prowess with arcane magic, the Arcane Archer's enchanted arrows bring a variety of effects to the battlefield. These arrows can blind, weaken, or even temporarily banish enemies to the Feywild. A unique feature allows the Arcane Archer to redirect a missed arrow to another target, ensuring no shot goes to waste.

Drunken Master Monk

The Drunken Master Monk integrates alcohol into their combat style, using it to intoxicate and disorient foes, while simultaneously enhancing their own abilities. Their signature move involves intoxicating enemies, and using Instant Sobriety on these targets inflicts both physical and mental damage, making it a versatile and potent fighting technique.

Swarmkeeper Ranger

The Swarmkeeper Ranger forms alliances with nature's swarms, using them to shield themselves and teleport across the battlefield. In combat, they can deploy three distinct types of swarms: electric jellyfish clusters for stunning effects, blinding moth clouds to disorient enemies, and stinging bee legions that knock back opponents failing a strength check by 4.5 meters, adding a strategic layer to encounters.

These new subclasses not only add depth to the gameplay of Baldur's Gate 3 but also offer players a range of new strategies and playstyles to explore when the 2025 update rolls out.
