No Man's Sky: Your Guide to Finding, Farming, and Crafting Solanium
Solanium, a crucial resource in No Man's Sky, is exclusive to planets with specific climates. This guide covers gathering, farming, and crafting methods to ensure you always have a supply.
Locating Solanium:
Unlike Frost Crystals, Solanium thrives on hot, arid planets. Before landing, use your ship's scanner to identify planets with descriptions like "Arid," "Incandescent," "Boiling," or "Scorched." The scanner will also list Solanium as a resource if present.
Once on the planet, deploy your Analysis Visor to locate Solar Vines—tall, rock-like structures with glowing vines. These are abundant in specific areas. Remember, you'll need a Haz-Mat Gauntlet to harvest them. While there, gather Phosphorus deposits if available; they're key to crafting Solanium.
Farming Solanium:
Progressing the Farmer's Agricultural Research mission unlocks the ability to farm Solar Vines at your base. Use Hydroponic Trays or Bio-Domes, planting Solar Vines with 50 Solanium and 50 Phosphorus. On hot planets, direct ground planting is possible. Allow approximately 16 real-time hours for growth before harvesting.
Crafting Solanium:
The Refiner offers several Solanium crafting recipes, most requiring Phosphorus (obtainable from hot planets or Galactic Trade Terminals). Here are the recipes:
- Solanium + Phosphorus (to create more Solanium)
- Phosphorus + Oxygen
- Phosphorus + Sulphurine
- Di-hydrogen + Sulphurine
Note that Sulphurine also necessitates a visit to a hot planet. Establishing a Phosphorus farm at your base is the most reliable way to consistently produce Sulphurine and Solanium.
