Marvel Rivals Backtracks On Their Player Rank Reset
Dev Talk 11 Updates on Seasonal Rank Adjustments
Following intense fan backlash, Marvel Rivals has reversed its earlier decision on player rank resets. The official Marvel Rivals Twitter (X) account shared an update in Dev Talk 11, retracting the contentious plan introduced in Dev Talk 10.
In Dev Talk 10, the game had proposed a mid-season rank reset where players would drop four divisions every 45 days, sparking widespread criticism for being demotivating, especially for those striving to climb the ranks.
Responding to the community's concerns, Dev Talk 11 clarified that there will be no mid-season rank resets. Players will now keep their ranks and scores from the first half of the season. However, the end-of-season reset remains in place, with players dropping six divisions at that time.
Human Torch, The Thing, And Other Updates Still On The Way
Despite the change in rank reset policy, Marvel Rivals continues to roll out exciting new content. The much-anticipated addition of Human Torch and The Thing will bring the hero roster to 39, aligning with NetEase Games' commitment to introducing two new characters each season, which spans three months.
Rewards for players reaching Gold rank and above will remain as previously announced. Those at Gold rank or higher will receive a complimentary Invisible Woman costume, while Grandmaster and above will earn Crests of Honor. At the end of the season, Gold rank players will unlock another free costume, and Grandmaster and above will again receive Crests of Honor.
While balance adjustments are slated for the mid-season update, specific details on these changes have yet to be disclosed.

The swift response from Marvel Rivals to the community's feedback on the rank reset proposal showcases their dedication to player satisfaction. Within hours of the initial announcement in Dev Talk 10, the team issued Dev Talk 11, addressing and reversing the decision.
Marvel Rivals emphasized their commitment to the community, stating, "We strive to make Marvel Rivals the best game it can be, and the community is the driving force behind this mission! [...] Your engagement and support mean the world to us, and we're excited to continue this journey together!"
