Marvel Rivals Season 1 Unveils the Mystical Sanctum Sanctorum Map
Marvel Rivals' Season 1: Eternal Night Falls, launching January 10th at 1 AM PST, introduces a captivating new map: the Sanctum Sanctorum. This iconic location will be the stage for a thrilling new Doom Match mode, pitting 8-12 players against each other in a chaotic free-for-all. Only the top 50% will emerge victorious.
The Sanctum Sanctorum is one of three maps debuting in Season 1, alongside Midtown and Central Park. Midtown will host a new convoy mission, while Central Park's features remain a mystery, slated for a mid-season reveal.
A recent video showcased the Sanctum Sanctorum's unique blend of opulent décor and bizarre elements. From a kitchen with floating cookware and a surprising refrigerator inhabitant, to winding staircases, levitating bookshelves, and powerful artifacts, the map is a visual feast. Even Doctor Strange himself is represented, albeit in a cheerful portrait. A subtle nod to fans includes the appearance of Wong, a beloved character new to the game, and Doctor Strange's ghostly canine companion, Bats.
This season's narrative sees Dracula as the primary antagonist, with the Fantastic Four stepping up to defend New York City. Mister Fantastic and Invisible Woman join the fight at launch, followed by the Human Torch and The Thing in a significant mid-season update. The level of detail in the Sanctum Sanctorum map, despite the impending battle, is a testament to the developers' dedication. The scene sets the stage for an epic confrontation between good and evil within Doctor Strange's mystical abode. The anticipation is palpable as players prepare for the exciting new content coming to Marvel Rivals.
