According to AusilMV, a well-known insider for game leaks, a reliable source has indicated that Season 5 is the developers' final attempt to revitalize the game. While this remains a rumor, the situation appears concerning.

Upon its launch in 2022, MultiVersus enjoyed immense success, reaching a peak of 153,000 concurrent players on Steam. However, the game's online presence plummeted by 99% shortly after, leading Warner Bros. Games to close the project in June 2023, labeling it as an "open beta test." Despite its return in May 2024 with updates, MultiVersus has struggled to recapture its initial popularity.

Scheduled to begin in early February, Season 5 represents a crucial opportunity for the developers to rekindle player interest. This season essentially marks a relaunch for MultiVersus, though the developers have chosen to refer to the 2022 release as a "beta."
