"Nintendo Switch 2: Joy-Con Mouse Controls for Home Menu Navigation"

Nintendo has officially announced that players will be able to utilize the innovative Switch 2 Joy-Con mouse controls directly on the Home screen, sparking excitement among fans since the console's reveal. Last month, it was confirmed that the new Joy-Con can switch into a "mouse mode," allowing users to glide the controllers on surfaces and use the analog sticks for left-click and right-click functions, mimicking a traditional mouse. Impressively, you can even operate two Joy-Con in mouse mode simultaneously, one in each hand, or pair one in standard mode with the other in mouse mode for a versatile gaming experience.

The latest update, showcased through the Nintendo Today app and shared on X/Twitter, demonstrates that the Joy-Con 2's mouse controls extend to navigating the Home menu on the Switch 2. According to Nintendo, "If you place the Joy-Con 2 controller on a surface with the attachment side facing down, a cursor will appear on screen." Simply position the Joy-Con 2 on a table or flat surface and move it to control the cursor. "While using mouse controls, you can tilt the control stick to scroll through menus," Nintendo further explained, "[and] use mouse controls on the Home menu and in compatible software." To revert to using the thumbstick, just reposition the Joy-Con 2 horizontally.

While the full extent of game compatibility remains unclear, Nintendo has demonstrated the technology working seamlessly with the Switch 2 versions of Mario Party Jamboree and Metroid Prime 4, as well as the wheelchair basketball game Drag x Drive.
