One such crucial encounter is with the Sisters of Garukhan, which appears twice during the campaign. Successfully completing this encounter grants a permanent +10% Lightning Resistance, a boon that can be easily missed. Here's a detailed guide on how to locate and activate this beneficial encounter.
Where To Find Sisters of Garukhan
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter is located within the Spires of Deshar Map in both Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel of the campaign. This encounter rewards players with +10% Lightning Resistance each time it is activated. The icon for this encounter can be easily overlooked on the world map, leading many players to miss it entirely.
Given the random generation of maps in Path of Exile 2, there's no fixed route to the Sisters of Garukhan within the Spires of Deshar. However, it is guaranteed to be on this map. You'll need to explore thoroughly to find a shrine similar to the one shown in the image. Once you find it, interact with the shrine to gain the +10% Lightning Resistance buff. Be ready for a fight, as activating the shrine will awaken the chakram-wielding metal automatons that were previously dormant, triggering them and all other automatons in the map to attack.
If you've reached a checkpoint near the exit before finding the shrine, you can fast-travel back to the checkpoint near the shrine, saving you from navigating the entire map filled with ambushers again.
How to Get +10% Lightning Resistance From Sisters of Garukhan
Upon interacting with the Sisters of Garukhan statues, the +10% Lightning Resistance is immediately applied. This buff is not an item drop nor a reward for defeating the automatons that ambush you after activating the shrine; it's automatically granted upon touching the shrine.
The Sisters of Garukhan encounter repeats in Act 2 and Act 2 Cruel during the early access of Path of Exile 2. Make sure to activate the shrine in both instances to accumulate a total of +20% Lightning Resistance.
Why is +10% Lightning Resistance Not Activating
A common confusion among players is that even after activating the Sisters of Garukhan and receiving the +10% Lightning Resistance notification, their resistance stats might still show as negative. This occurs because, after completing each Act in Path of Exile 2, your character automatically receives a -10% debuff to all elemental resistances (excluding Chaos Resistance).
When you first activate the Sisters of Garukhan in Act 2, the +10% Lightning Resistance buff offsets the -10% debuff from completing Act 1, resulting in a net zero for Lightning Resistance. In Act 2 Cruel, you start with a -40% Lightning Resistance due to the cumulative debuffs from previous Acts, which then improves to -30% after activating the shrine again.
To verify if the elemental resistance buffs from the campaign are active, remove all your gear and check your resistances in the endgame. If you see -40% across all resistances, you haven't missed any of these crucial buffs.
