Ratatan Early Access Postponed
Demo Feedback Leads to Delay

On July 4, Ratatan's development team announced via Steam that Early Access would be delayed after receiving substantial critique from players during the demo phase. Originally scheduled for July 25, the release has been pushed back indefinitely.
Rata Arts shared that the demo garnered 200,000 downloads and accumulated 1,200 Steam reviews alongside 2,000 feedback submissions. The studio admitted insufficient development time to implement necessary changes, prompting the postponement.
Key player concerns included flawed roguelike mechanics and reward systems, inactive Ratatan abilities during gameplay, underwhelming visual effects, and overall structural improvements needed for content pacing and mid-game progression.

While Ratatan serves as a spiritual successor to the acclaimed Patapon series—helmed by original creator Hiroyuki Kotani—the developers stress this is an independent project. "Ratatan isn't Patapon," clarified Rata Arts. "This indie title strives to offer fresh experiences, meaning certain design differences are intentional."
Game8's preview noted Ratatan's nostalgic yet innovative approach—blending Patapon's signature charm with bold new directions under Kotani's guidance. The game radiates exciting potential to both honor its predecessor and forge its own identity. For our full demo impressions, see our detailed analysis below.
