In Persona 4 Golden, Golden Hands can unexpectedly appear in any dungeon, whether roaming the overworld or lurking within chests. As you progress through the game, each dungeon's Golden Hands become increasingly formidable, presenting some of the toughest challenges you'll face.
Despite their difficulty, defeating these elusive enemies is highly rewarding, as they grant substantial amounts of XP. In Yukiko's Castle, you'll encounter the Happiness Hands, which are the Golden Hands specific to this early stage. Here's how to effectively tackle them.
Happiness Hand Affinities In Persona 4 Golden
Happiness Hands boast a robust resistance to all forms of elemental damage, making them particularly challenging to defeat with magic. The key to overcoming them lies in exploiting their vulnerability to Physical damage. While Almighty damage is typically effective against Golden Hands, it's not a viable option this early in the game.
Happiness Hands tend to be passive, often spending their turns idle, but they will attempt to flee if given the opportunity. If they manage to strike a party member's weakness or score a critical hit, they'll immediately try to escape. When facing a group, it's crucial to focus your attacks on a single Happiness Hand to maximize your chances of defeating at least one before they all flee.
How To Beat Happiness Hands In Persona 4 Golden
To successfully defeat Happiness Hands, start by fusing an Orobas Persona, which comes equipped with the Hysterical Slap skill. This skill not only delivers two hits but also has a chance to inflict Rage, causing the Happiness Hand to use its basic attack instead of fleeing. You can fuse Orobas using the following combinations:
- Apsaras + Forneus
- Apsaras + Slime
Before engaging a Happiness Hand, ensure your party is fully healed. This allows everyone to concentrate on using HP-consuming physical attacks without needing to divert resources elsewhere. Have Yosuke utilize Sonic Punch, Chie employ Skull Cracker, and the Protagonist repeatedly use Hysterical Slap. Success in this battle largely depends on luck due to the limited options available early in the game, but defeating a Happiness Hand can significantly boost your party's levels.
If you manage to knock a Happiness Hand down, refrain from using an all-out-attack unless you're confident it will be fatal. Otherwise, the Happiness Hand will recover and likely escape.
