Pokemon Vending Machines: A Guide for Trainers

If you're a Pokemon fan with a social media presence, you've likely encountered discussions about Pokemon vending machines. As The Pokemon Company expands their US rollout, many questions arise. This guide provides the answers.

What are Pokemon Vending Machines?

Pokemon vending machines are automated dispensers of Pokemon merchandise, offering a convenient (though not necessarily budget-friendly) shopping experience. While various types have existed, the current US focus is on TCG-centric models initially tested in Washington in 2017. This trial's success led to wider deployment across US grocery stores.

These machines are visually striking, featuring bright colors and clear Pokemon branding. Their user-friendly touchscreen interface replaces older button-press systems. Customers browse available TCG products, select their items, and pay via credit card. The process includes charming Pokemon animations, enhancing the overall experience. A digital receipt is emailed to the customer, but returns are not accepted.

Primarily, US Pokemon vending machines stock Pokemon TCG products: Elite Trainer Boxes, Booster Packs, and related items. Stock levels vary; while newer Elite Trainer Boxes may sell out quickly, booster packs and older boxes often remain available. Unlike some Pokemon Center machines in Washington State (which offer a wider range of merchandise and are gradually being phased out), these machines generally do not sell plushies, apparel, or video games.
