Remedy Entertainment Unveils Development Updates for Upcoming Titles
Remedy Entertainment recently shared progress updates on several highly anticipated projects, including the Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, Control 2, and Codename Condor, in their latest financial report. The report detailed the development stage of each game and outlined Remedy's broader publishing strategy.
Control 2 Reaches Production Readiness
The sequel to the critically acclaimed 2019 title, Control 2, has achieved a significant milestone: production readiness. This means the game is now fully playable, and the development team is focusing on scaling up production, including extensive testing and performance optimization to ensure it meets the highest standards. Additionally, the Control Ultimate Edition, developed in partnership with Apple, is slated for release on Apple silicon Macs later this year.
Codename Condor in Full Swing
Codename Condor, the multiplayer game set within the Control universe, is currently in full production. The team is actively developing multiple maps and mission types, with internal and limited external playtesting underway to gather feedback and refine gameplay. This marks Remedy's first venture into live-service games, and it will be launched using a "service-based fixed price" model.
Alan Wake 2 and Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake Updates
The Alan Wake 2 expansion, Night Springs, has received positive critical and fan reception. Remedy confirmed that Alan Wake 2 has already recouped the majority of its development and marketing costs. A physical Deluxe Edition will launch on October 22nd, followed by a Collector's Edition in December. Pre-orders are open on the official Alan Wake website.
The Max Payne 1 & 2 Remake, a co-production with Rockstar Games, has transitioned from production readiness to full production. The team is concentrating on creating a complete, playable version of the game while emphasizing unique gameplay features.
The Future of Control and Alan Wake
Remedy's future strategy centers on the Control and Alan Wake franchises. Having acquired full rights to the Control IP from 505 Games, Remedy is exploring self-publishing and other business models for both franchises. Further details on their publishing plans will be revealed before the year's end. They are considering self-publishing options and potential partnerships.
Remedy emphasized the importance of these two franchises, interconnected through the Remedy Connected Universe, in their future growth strategy. They also mentioned their continued work on the Max Payne franchise, originally created by Remedy. More announcements regarding these franchises and upcoming game developments are expected soon.
