EA's long-running mobile game, The Simpsons: Tapped Out, is closing its doors. After a twelve-year run, starting with its 2012 App Store launch and 2013 Google Play release, the game will be sunsetting.
The Shutdown Timeline:
In-app purchases are already unavailable. The game will be removed from app stores on October 31st, 2024. However, players can continue playing until January 24th, 2025, when the servers will shut down permanently. EA expressed gratitude to its players in the closure announcement, highlighting the decade-long partnership with The Simpsons and Disney.
One Last Chance to Build Your Springfield?
For those unfamiliar, The Simpsons: Tapped Out is a city-building game where you rebuild Springfield after Homer's disastrous nuclear meltdown. Players manage the town's reconstruction, interacting with beloved characters like Marge, Lisa, Bart, and even Fat Tony, unlocking various outfits and expanding to Springfield Heights, even managing Apu's Kwik-E-Mart.
The freemium game regularly featured updates mirroring the show's storylines and real-world holidays. While the game itself is free, in-game "donuts" are the primary currency for faster progression.
If you're interested in experiencing Springfield before the servers go offline, download The Simpsons: Tapped Out from the Google Play Store before October 31st. Also, check out our article on eBaseball: MLB Pro Spirit, a new mobile game launching this fall!
