The news of *Star Wars: Hunters* announcing its shutdown before even completing a full year has left many fans disappointed. Yet, the game will still get to celebrate its one-year anniversary before closing down for good. The question remains: Is it really worth celebrating the anniversary of a game on its way out?
When Is the Star Wars: Hunters Shutdown?
The servers for *Star Wars: Hunters* are set to go offline on October 1st, 2025, marking the end of the road after just nine months since its launch. Players have been given a grace period to wrap up Season 5, which concludes on April 15th.Zynga, the game's developer and publisher, plans to release one final content update on April 15th. This update will introduce a new Support Hunter, Tuya, available for free. Additionally, in-game purchases will be disabled starting on the same day.
Ranked Mode will remain active until the servers shut down, and events from the season will be rerun. Players are advised to use up any unspent Crystals, as no refunds will be issued.
It Isn’t Shocking
While the shutdown is unfortunate, it's not entirely surprising. *Star Wars: Hunters* faced numerous challenges from the start. Initially announced in 2020, the game experienced multiple delays and limited beta testing in the SEA and ANZAC regions only.Factors such as the delayed launch, absence of major console support, and a tepid reception contributed to the eventual decision to shut down Star Wars: Hunters. Even the game's design missed the mark, opting for generic original characters instead of leveraging the rich tapestry of iconic Star Wars legends.
For those who uninstalled the game but wish to return for one final hurrah, Star Wars: Hunters remains available for download on the Google Play Store until the shutdown.
