World of Warcraft China is introducing two new mounts: the Blazing Royal Fire Hawk and the Golden Ashes of Al'ar. These stunning mounts are reimagined versions of the incredibly rare Pureblood Fire Hawk and Ashes of Al'ar, previously only obtainable through extremely low-chance raid drops. Currently exclusive to China, these mounts will be available starting January 15th through separate promotions. While their availability in other regions remains uncertain, their arrival marks another exciting development following the renewed partnership between NetEase and Blizzard. This partnership brought World of Warcraft, Diablo IV, and Overwatch 2 back to the Chinese market, previously celebrated with additions like the Lightforged Gorehowl statue and the teleportation-enabled Xiao Liu pet.
New Chinese World of Warcraft Promotional Mounts
- Blazing Royal Fire Hawk
- Golden Ashes of Al'ar
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk, visually similar to the Pureblood Fire Hawk (a Ragnaros drop in WoW: Cataclysm's Firelands raid), boasts auspicious clouds within its wings while in flight. These "xiangyun" are ancient Chinese symbols representing peace, immortality, and good fortune. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, a resplendent golden version of the original Ashes of Al'ar (a drop from Kael'thas Sunstrider in The Burning Crusade's The Eye raid), features a stylish black saddle and flavor text echoing Kael'thas' iconic line: "The golden Al'ar, beloved pet of Kael'thas Sunstrider, proves that death is merely a setback."
The Blazing Royal Fire Hawk is obtainable through a "Treasure Workshop" event, details of which are still limited. The Golden Ashes of Al'ar, however, is available via Landro's Loot Box, a ¥200 (approximately $27 USD) crate containing one of eight items. Other potential prizes include the X-51 Nether Rocket X-TREME and the exceptionally rare Swift Spectral Tiger (from WoW's discontinued TCG). Team purchases offer bonus crates based on spending milestones.
While there's currently no indication of an international release for these mounts, their stunning designs are sure to garner admiration from WoW players worldwide.
