Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana masterfully introduces players to its challenging bosses, teaching them to harness game mechanics effectively as they advance. Though not as lengthy as some RPGs, this game packs a punch with a variety of formidable bosses to conquer.
While newcomers might need initial guidance, facing Gyalva, the Lord of the Blazing Prison, requires a solid understanding of the game's combat, abilities, and other mechanics.
How to Beat Gyalva in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
- Boss Location: Zone of Lava, the Escapeless Abyss
- Boss Health: 1200 (Normal Difficulty)
After triumphing over Guilen, the Fire Eater, players will navigate the treacherous Zone of Lava to confront their next significant challenge: Gyalva. The key to easing this battle is positioning yourself at one of the bridge's ends.
In contrast to earlier encounters, your movement is severely restricted here, with the bridge's platforms constantly being disrupted by Gyalva. Your strategy should involve leaping towards Gyalva and using wind magic to inflict maximum damage in minimal time.
The Ys series stands as a testament to Nihon Falcom's excellence, and defeating these bosses offers immense satisfaction.
Gyalva’s List of Attacks in Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana
Ys Memoire: The Oath in Felghana, a remake of Ys III, enriches the franchise's narrative, introducing Gyalva as a unique boss not seen in the original. Gyalva employs various tactics, capable of inflicting significant damage rapidly. During the fight, Gyalva soars over the bridge, frequently launching parts of it into the air with fiery assaults.
To better your chances against Gyalva, it's advisable to upgrade Adol extensively. Aim for at least Level 21 and enhance your gear, a task made manageable by defeating smaller foes along your journey.
Spinning Attacks
Gyalva's spinning attacks come in two forms. The first involves passing over a bridge section, causing the plates to spin upwards. The second sees Gyalva flying straight over the entire bridge, flipping the plates as it goes. Both can severely deplete your health if you're underleveled.
To evade the first attack, quickly move to the unaffected side of the bridge. For the second, your safest bet is to stay on the ledges at the bridge's ends. Always stick close to one side to ensure a swift retreat to safety.
Avoid lingering at the bridge's very end to prevent being cornered. Instead, maneuver around the bridge to land hits on Gyalva, then retreat to the nearest ledge.
Fire Blast
Gyalva launches a fireball onto the bridge, sending plates flying upwards. While being hit causes damage, it also presents an opportunity to strike Gyalva multiple times.
Bursting Torches
Periodically, the bridge's torches will erupt in flames, with fireballs passing between them. Getting caught in this can harm you. Though unpredictable, once a burst subsides, it's safe to proceed through the area.
