- A 32-card deck (removing 20 cards from a standard 52-card deck) is used. Card ranking within each suit is J-9-A-10-K-Q-8-7.
- Players bid to set a target score, and the highest bidder chooses the trump suit.
- Play proceeds counter-clockwise. Players must follow suit if possible; otherwise, they must play a trump card.
- The winner of each trick leads to the next.
- Points are awarded based on captured tricks: Jacks (3 points each), Nines (2 points each), Aces (1 point each), Tens (1 point each). Kings, Queens, Eights, and Sevens have no point value.
