Gearbox Software has revealed the release date for Borderlands 4.
During the recent State of Play presentation, Gearbox president Randy Pitchford announced that Borderlands 4 will launch on September 23, 2025. To mark the occasion, a new trailer showcasing exciting gameplay features was unveiled.
A standout feature in the trailer is the introduction of a grappling hook. However, fans can rest assured that the game will retain its signature blend of over-the-top weaponry, explosive action, and chaotic mayhem.
Further celebrating the announcement, Gearbox confirmed a dedicated Borderlands 4 State of Play showcase this spring. This upcoming presentation promises an in-depth look at new gameplay mechanics and a plethora of fresh weaponry.
While narrative details remain scarce, the lead writer previously hinted at a potential shift away from the previous game's reliance on "toilet humor." Whether Borderlands 4 adopts a more mature tone remains to be seen.
More information on Borderlands 4 will be shared during the spring State of Play event. For now, you can find a roundup of all the major announcements from today's PlayStation State of Play elsewhere.
