Understanding Factions in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
The game unfolds across chapters. The first two chapters feature the Wanderer, your character, as a neutral party. You'll assist Sun Jian, Cao Cao, and Liu Bei, participating in key events like the Yellow Turban Rebellion and the Battle of Hulao Gate.
Chapter 3 presents the crucial faction choice. Before this point, you'll have opportunities to interact with each faction.
To progress, complete a specific number of missions for each faction: three for Sun Jian, two for Liu Bei, and one for Cao Cao. Completing these unlocks a mission forcing you to choose a side. Only factions with completed missions will be selectable. You can, however, complete all missions before making your final decision.
Your choice is permanent. The unchosen faction becomes inaccessible for the remainder of the game, preventing further sidequests and bond increases with their officers. This can impact gameplay difficulty; for instance, allying with Liu Bei initially limits access to commanding officers and skill point opportunities from sidequests.
Each faction offers unique missions. To experience all content, create a save file before choosing a kingdom and reload it to explore other alliances.
