Dynasty Warriors games, known for their hack-and-slash combat, do require a certain degree of skill, and Dynasty Warriors: Origins acknowledges this by offering four different difficulty settings. This allows players to customize the challenge according to their skill level and gaming experience. As a reboot, both newcomers and seasoned players might be uncertain about the optimal difficulty setting. The choice largely depends on individual skill levels and the desired level of challenge.

All Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Settings
There are four difficulty settings in Dynasty Warriors: Origins, though initially, only three are available. When players start the game, they can select from Historian (easy), Wayfarer (normal), and Hero (hard). The Ultimate Warrior (very hard) setting unlocks after completing one of the three factions' main scenarios.
While there is a Trophy/Achievement for completing a single battle on Ultimate Warrior, there are no difficulty-specific Trophies/Achievements for completing the main campaign.
Which Dynasty Warriors: Origins Difficulty Setting is Best?
Historian is the game's easy mode, ideal for those new to the action-adventure genre or those who wish to focus on the story without much challenge. Wayfarer is recommended for most players, even those with limited experience in Musou/Warriors games. Series veterans might opt for Hero, while Musou masters should consider upgrading to Ultimate Warrior once unlocked for a more challenging experience as they tackle remaining missions, requests, and scenarios.
Players can adjust the difficulty between battles via the config menu if they find the gameplay too hard or too easy, without affecting the story.
Difficulty Mode Differences in Dynasty Warriors: Origins
In Historian mode, all enemy attacks are blockable, and it's easier to stagger enemies, gain bravery, and fill the Musou Gauge. Hero mode, however, features stronger and more aggressive enemies, shorter windows for parries and perfect evades, and no Meat Buns dropped by enemies. Blocking depletes bravery, time to influence battles is reduced, and there's a slight decrease in Skill Points and gold earned. Ultimate Warrior mode intensifies Hero's challenges with even tighter parry and evade windows and significantly reduced battle earnings.
