New Gameplay Clip Reveals Overzealous NPCs in Pokémon Game

A Pokémon player is experiencing an unusual level of popularity, or perhaps a glitch, as two NPCs relentlessly bombard them with phone calls. A short video shows the player trapped, their in-game phone constantly ringing.

Pokémon Gold and Silver introduced the feature of receiving calls from certain NPCs after battles. These calls can range from friendly check-ins to story updates or rematch offers. However, this player's game appears to be malfunctioning, caught in an endless loop of calls from two particularly persistent trainers.

Pokémon enthusiast FodderWadder posted a video showcasing the situation. While in a Pokémon Center, the player receives a call from Wade the Bug Catcher, followed immediately by Youngster Joey. The calls repeat incessantly – Joey's rematch offer and Wade's update on his Caterpie – creating an inescapable loop.

The relentless calls aren't a typical feature of the game. While Youngster Joey's calls are known for being repetitive, this level of persistence is unusual. FodderWadder suspects a save file glitch. Other players, however, found the situation humorous, suggesting the NPCs simply enjoy chatting.

Although phone numbers can be deleted, the game automatically answers incoming calls. FodderWadder eventually escaped the phone call deluge, but only after struggling to find a brief moment between calls to access the menu, delete the numbers, and leave the Pokémon Center. The experience, however, has made them hesitant to register any new numbers for fear of repeating the ordeal.
