Genshin Impact Leak Hints at Wriothesley Rerun in Version 5.4

A recent leak suggests Wriothesley's return to Genshin Impact's Event Banners in Version 5.4, marking over a year since his initial appearance in Version 4.1. This prolonged absence highlights a growing challenge for Genshin Impact: balancing the ever-expanding roster of over 90 playable characters with the limited slots available for character reruns. Even assuming a single new 5-star character per patch, the demand for annual reruns far surpasses the supply.

While the Chronicled Banner aimed to alleviate this issue, many players consider it a temporary solution rather than a long-term fix. Shenhe's extended wait time (over 600 days) before her Version 5.3 rerun exemplifies this. Until the introduction of triple banners, extended wait times between character reruns are likely to persist.

Wriothesley, a Cryo Catalyst, has been particularly affected by this scheduling bottleneck. His unique Cryo hypercarry capabilities and Burnmelt team synergy make him highly sought after, yet inaccessible since November 8, 2023. The Flying Flame leak predicts his return in Version 5.4, aligning with a recent Spiral Abyss buff that enhances his playstyle.

Wriothesley's Potential Version 5.4 Banner: A Grain of Salt

It's crucial to approach this leak with caution. Flying Flame's track record regarding Natlan leaks has been inconsistent. While their prediction of a new Chronicled Banner in Version 5.3 proved accurate, other leaks have been inaccurate.

Nevertheless, the Spiral Abyss buff lends some credibility to the rumor. Version 5.4 is also anticipated to introduce Mizuki, potentially Inazuma's first Standard Banner character. If both Mizuki and Wriothesley are featured, the remaining Event Banner slot might be filled by either Furina or Venti, as they are the only Archons yet to receive sequential reruns. Version 5.4's projected launch date is February 12, 2025.
