Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Reaches Impressive Sales Milestone

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP Surpasses 200,000 Units Sold, Proving a Resurgence for the Action Title

Released late last year, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP has reportedly exceeded 200,000 units sold, demonstrating strong player interest in this revitalized classic action game. Despite initial launch challenges including technical issues and censorship concerns, the game's sales figures clearly indicate significant demand.

Developed originally by Grasshopper Manufacture (renowned for titles like No More Heroes), Lollipop Chainsaw is a vibrant hack-and-slash experience where players wield a chainsaw as a cheerleader battling hordes of zombies. While the original developer didn't helm the remaster, Dragami Games delivered a visually enhanced version with improved quality-of-life features.

Several months after its September 2024 release across current and last-gen consoles, and PC, Dragami Games announced the impressive sales milestone via a tweet.

Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's Triumph: A Celebration of Sales Success

The game casts players as Juliet Starling, a San Romero High cheerleader who uncovers her zombie-hunting heritage when her school is overrun. Players engage in exhilarating chainsaw combat against waves of zombies and formidable bosses, reminiscent of titles like Bayonetta.

The original 2012 release on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 achieved even greater success, reportedly selling over one million copies. The unique collaboration between Goichi Suda and James Gunn (Guardians of the Galaxy) likely contributed significantly to the game's initial appeal.

While future plans, such as additional content or a sequel, remain unannounced, Lollipop Chainsaw RePOP's success bodes well for remasters of other niche titles. This positive trend is further exemplified by the recent release of Shadows of the Damned: Hella Remastered, bringing another Grasshopper Manufacture title to modern platforms.
