Marvel Rivals Season 1: A New York City Nightmare
Marvel Rivals' first season continues to expand its offerings with a wealth of new content. Beyond the addition of Fantastic Four heroes and cosmetic items, the game introduces several new maps themed around a nightmarish version of Marvel's New York City, collectively known as the "Empire of Eternal Night." Let's explore each new map:
Empire of Eternal Night: Midtown
Launching alongside Season 1, Midtown is a Convoy map, specifically designed for the game's payload mode. Players either escort or defend a moving vehicle across this dark, Dracula-infused rendition of Midtown Manhattan. This map joins Yggsgard: Yggdrasill Path and Tokyo 2099: Spider-Islands as the third Convoy map in Rivals. Key points of interest include iconic Marvel locations and real-world landmarks, such as the Baxter Building, Grand Central Terminal, Stark/Avengers Tower, Fisk Tower, Ardmore's Bookstore, and Timely Trend.
Empire of Eternal Night: The Mystical Sanctum Santorum
Season 1 also brought the uniquely themed Sanctum Santorum, Doctor Strange's mystical home, to the game. This map exclusively hosts the Doom Match mode, a free-for-all deathmatch where players compete for survival and leaderboard supremacy. The map is a detailed recreation of the iconic location, featuring hidden secrets, supernatural rooms, impossible architecture, and even a cameo from Bats the Ghost Dog.
Empire of Eternal Night: Central Park
Expected to arrive later in Season 1, Central Park offers a stylized version of the real-world park, focusing on Belvedere Castle. This Gothic-style castle, situated at a high point in the park, provides a fitting backdrop for the Empire of Eternal Night theme and serves as a potential hideout for Dracula within the game's version of New York City.
These are all the new maps currently planned for Marvel Rivals Season 1. Prepare for a dark and exciting journey through a nightmarish New York!
