Palworld Crossplay Arrives in Late March with Major Update

by Mila Apr 09,2025

Palworld developer Pocketpair is set to release a major crossplay update in late March 2025. This update will enable multiplayer functionality across all platforms and introduce a new world transfer feature for Pals. While specifics remain scarce, Pocketpair shared a promotional image on X/Twitter featuring Palworld characters engaged in battle with a formidable Pal.

John 'Bucky' Buckley, Pocketpair's Communications Director and Publishing Manager, hinted at additional "little surprises" that will accompany the March update.

This news will be welcomed by the 32 million players who have engaged with Palworld since its early access debut in January 2024. Pocketpair has outlined an extensive content roadmap for 2025, which includes not only crossplay but also an "ending scenario" and further new content for this highly popular creature-catching survival game.

Palworld hit the market with a $30 price tag on Steam and was immediately available on Game Pass for Xbox and PC, breaking sales and concurrent player records. The game's massive success led to overwhelming profits, which Pocketpair struggled to manage, according to studio head Takuro Mizobe. In response to the game's breakout success, Pocketpair quickly moved to expand the IP by signing a deal with Sony to establish Palworld Entertainment, aimed at broadening the game's reach, including a launch on PS5.

However, the game's success has not been without challenges. Nintendo and The Pokémon Company have filed a lawsuit against Pocketpair, alleging infringement on "multiple" patent rights and seeking an injunction and damages. In response, Pocketpair has identified the patents in question and made adjustments to the Pal summoning mechanics in Palworld. The studio remains steadfast, ready to defend its position in court, stating, "We will continue to assert our position in this case through future legal proceedings."
