Path of Exile 1 Update Delayed Due to Path of Exile 2 Issues
Grinding Gear Games (GGG) has apologized for delaying Path of Exile 1's 3.26 update, initially slated for late October 2024 and then mid-February 2025. The delay is attributed to the need to address critical issues within the recently released Path of Exile 2.
GGG had previously committed to continued updates for Path of Exile 1, even after the launch of its sequel. However, the entire Path of Exile 1 development team was reassigned to assist with Path of Exile 2's endgame development before its December launch. While GGG initially believed they could return to Path of Exile 1's 3.26 update in time for its February target, unforeseen challenges with Path of Exile 2's launch, including crashes and balance problems, rendered this impossible.
In a video message, Game Director Jonathan Rogers acknowledged the studio's miscalculation, stating they were "fooling ourselves" about having sufficient time. He explained the decision to prioritize Path of Exile 2's stability, given its immediate issues.
The delay means that Path of Exile 1's last league, Settlers of Kalguur, released in July 2024, remains the most recent content. While a new release date for 3.26 is currently unavailable, Rogers assured fans that a plan is in place. The team will continue to focus on Path of Exile 2 until version 0.2.0 is released and stable, likely extending a couple of weeks beyond that point.
Despite the setback, Path of Exile 2's December 6th, 2024 launch across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S was a resounding success, becoming one of Steam's most played games ever.
To assist players, GGG has provided resources including class guides (Mercenary and Sorceress builds), tips on acquiring Spirit, trading mechanics, and ascension paths.
