Securing your shelter in the zombie-infested world of Project Zomboid requires more than just finding a suitable location; it demands robust defenses. This guide focuses on a fundamental yet effective method: barricading windows.
How to Barricade Windows in Project Zomboid
To effectively board up your windows, you'll need specific materials: a wooden plank, a hammer, and four nails. Once gathered, right-click the target window. Your character will automatically begin securing the plank. Each window supports up to four planks for enhanced protection.
Resource locations are fairly intuitive: hammers and nails are typically found in toolboxes, garages, sheds, and closets. Wooden planks are commonly located on construction sites, or can be salvaged by dismantling wooden furniture (shelves, chairs, etc.). Administrators can utilize the "/additem" command to spawn items.
Barricaded windows significantly hinder zombie access. The more planks installed, the greater the resistance. To remove planks, right-click the boards and select "Remove." Note that you'll need a claw hammer or crowbar for this task.
Larger furniture items (bookshelves, refrigerators) are ineffective as barricades; characters and zombies will simply pass through them. However, understanding furniture manipulation remains a valuable skill for interior design within your base.
While wooden planks offer a basic defense, more advanced barricades can be constructed using metal bars or sheets, requiring sufficient Metalworking skill.
