No Snooze? You Lose! SF6 Tournament “Sleep Fighter” Requires You to Rest

A unique Street Fighter 6 tournament in Japan emphasizes the importance of sleep. The "Sleep Fighter" tournament, sponsored by SS Pharmaceuticals, incorporates sleep as a key competition element.

Sleep is Key to Victory in the Sleep Fighter SF6 Tournament

This Capcom-backed event, organized to promote the sleep aid Drewell, introduces a novel scoring system. Teams of three battle in best-of-three matches, accumulating points for wins and "Sleep Points" based on nightly sleep hours.

In the week before the tournament, each team member must log at least six hours of sleep per night. Teams failing to reach a combined 126 hours will face point deductions—five points for every hour short. The team boasting the most total sleep time also earns the right to determine match conditions.

SS Pharmaceuticals highlights the link between adequate rest and peak performance, launching the "Let's Do the Challenge, Let's Sleep First" campaign to promote healthy sleep habits in Japan. This is reportedly the first esports tournament to penalize insufficient sleep.
