"Spider-Verse Star Yet to Record Lines"

by Hunter May 27,2025

Jharrel Jerome, a star in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse, has tempered expectations about the release of the eagerly awaited third installment, Beyond the Spider-Verse. In a recent interview with Decider, Jerome revealed that he hasn't even begun recording his lines yet, indicating that production is still in the planning stages. He mentioned that "a lot of things are being figured out," but reassured fans that these are "good things."

The second film, Across the Spider-Verse, arrived five years after the original in 2023, so fans weren't necessarily expecting an immediate follow-up. When asked directly about the start of production, Jerome responded, "No, I wish. We haven’t started up yet."

53 ImagesJerome, who played a smaller role in Across the Spider-Verse, is poised to take on a more significant part in Beyond the Spider-Verse. Spoiler warning for Across the Spider-Verse's finale: Jerome portrays Miles G. Morales from Earth-42, who emerges at the film's end not as Spider-Man but as the Prowler. This version of Miles had a starkly different life trajectory; the radioactive spider intended to bite him ended up in the protagonist's reality instead. Consequently, Miles G. Morales never became Spider-Man. Following the death of his universe's Peter Parker, New York fell under the control of supervillains, leading Miles G. Morales to join their ranks.

The narrative clash between this Miles and the main Miles, who did become Spider-Man, is set to unfold in Beyond the Spider-Verse. However, fans will need to exercise patience as the film's release is not anticipated until at least 2026, according to Deadline. Keeping in line with the release schedule of the previous film might push the premiere to 2028.
