Squid Game: Unleashed is celebrating Season Two of the hit Netflix show with a wave of fresh content! Get ready for new characters, a brand-new map, and exciting challenges. Plus, exclusive rewards await those who watch the new episodes!
Netflix's surprising holiday release of Squid Game: Unleashed – a battle royale game based on the Korean drama – was free to all players, subscribers and non-subscribers alike. Now, with this new content drop, they're cleverly incentivizing non-users to join the fun by offering enticing rewards for watching Season Two!
What's in store for existing players? Starting January 3rd, a new map inspired by the Season Two mini-game, Mingle, will be added. Three new playable avatars will also debut throughout January: Geum-Ja, Yong-Sik, and the rapper Thanos.
Geum-Ja and Thanos will each have special in-game events on January 3rd and 9th respectively, allowing players to unlock them. Viewers of Season Two can earn additional in-game Cash and Wild Tokens. Watching up to seven episodes unlocks the exclusive Binni Binge-Watcher outfit!
Here's the January content schedule for Squid Game: Unleashed:
- January 3rd: Mingle map launches. Geum-Ja's Dalgona Mash Up Collection Event begins (until January 9th), challenging players to complete Mingle-inspired mini-games and collect Dalgona tins.
- January 9th: Thanos arrives with his own recruitment event, Thanos’ Red Light Challenge (until January 14th). Eliminate players using knives to unlock him.
- January 16th: Yong-Sik joins the game as the final character addition in this update.
Squid Game: Unleashed could be a game-changer for Netflix's gaming ambitions. The free-to-play model was a bold move, but rewarding subscribers and encouraging viewing is a clever strategy to synergize the game with the show's success.
