Atelier Resleriana's End-of-Service Announcement: A Year of Alchemy Concludes
Koei Tecmo has announced the closure of Atelier Resleriana: Forgotten Alchemy and the Polar Night Liberator, just one year after its global release. All services will cease on March 28th, with in-app purchases ending earlier on January 27th. Several in-game events are planned before the shutdown, allowing players to enjoy the remaining time.
The decision stems from the developers' inability to maintain their initially established quality standards. Despite ongoing efforts to improve the game and introduce new events, the developers concluded that continued operation was unsustainable. Players can still utilize existing Lodestar Gems, but further purchases are no longer possible.
This closure may not be entirely unexpected for many players. The highly competitive gacha market presents significant challenges for new titles, and Atelier Resleriana, despite its promising concepts, faced several hurdles.
Criticism centered on the gacha system and its perceived unfavorable rates, hindering player progression. The alchemy mechanics, a cornerstone of the Atelier series, failed to deliver the expected creative depth. While the gameplay was functional, it lacked the engagement to compete effectively with established rivals within the genre.
The game's struggles were evident from its launch. While community requests for an offline version are circulating on Twitter and Reddit, the likelihood of this happening is slim. Players who enjoyed the turn-based RPG are encouraged to maximize their remaining time before the servers shut down.
