Devil\'s Purge is going free-to-play and expanding its soundtrack

by Olivia Apr 22,2025

During my trip to Portugal late last year, I had the exciting opportunity to preview Devil's Purge, an upcoming augmented reality (AR) shooter from Ontop. This thrilling game pits you against demons and the devil himself, all set to a pulse-pounding heavy metal soundtrack. If you've been hesitant to dive in, now's the perfect time as Devil's Purge is rolling out a major update that not only expands its already impressive soundtrack but also introduces a free-to-play model!

Taking a cue from its spiritual predecessor Doom, Devil's Purge adopts a shareware approach. You can now experience the initial levels of over 60 available stages completely free. If you find yourself hooked, you have the option to purchase the full game to unlock the complete experience.

In Devil's Purge, you're not just a static shooter. The game demands active movement to dodge enemies and expose their vulnerabilities, making for a dynamic and engaging experience far removed from the likes of Pokemon Go. And with the latest update, the game's brutal soundtrack gets even more intense, featuring new tracks from independent metal artists such as Avesso, Visceral, Zero Massive, Tales for the Unspoken, and many others.

With over 60 levels and a revamped combat system that allows you to customize your equipment right from the start using resources from previous sessions, there's no better time to jump into the fray and battle the forces of Hell. The free-to-play model kicks off today, and you can find Devil's Purge on the iOS App Store.

If you're in the mood for something completely different, don't miss out on Catherine Dellosa's take on the adorable and cozy culinary simulator, Cat Restaurant, featured in our regular column, "Ahead of the Game," where we spotlight upcoming releases you can play before their official launch.
