Instead of passively awaiting the Nightreign release, chickensandwich420 devised a unique challenge: defeating Messmer, a notoriously difficult boss from the Shadow of the Erdtree DLC, every day. The twist? He uses a different weapon each time, aiming for a flawless, no-hit victory on NG+7.
His journey began December 16, 2024. Initially planning a broader FromSoftware boss marathon, his university studies steered him towards this focused, daily objective. Messmer's infamy—requiring 30 to 150 attempts for many players—makes this undertaking truly impressive.
A June Deadline Looms
However, chickensandwich420 has set a self-imposed deadline: June 2025. If Nightreign doesn't release by then, he'll shift his focus to other games. This means potentially over 160 consecutive Messmer battles. At the time of writing, he's reached day 23.
Elden Ring: Nightreign, a three-player co-op spin-off, was announced at The Game Awards 2024, with a planned 2025 release. Given FromSoftware's history, however, delays are a possibility.
