The iconic Master Chief, star of the Halo franchise and a popular Fortnite skin, recently returned to the item shop after a two-year hiatus, much to the delight of fans. However, the celebration was short-lived due to a controversial change concerning the Matte Black style.
Originally, this exclusive style was offered to players who used an Xbox Series S|X. For a considerable period, Epic Games advertised its ongoing availability. Therefore, the abrupt announcement of its removal was met with significant backlash.
Some players even considered legal action, threatening a class-action lawsuit, believing the change violated established terms. Fortunately, Epic Games quickly reversed course within 24 hours. The Matte Black style is now available to all Master Chief skin owners who play a single game on an Xbox Series S|X.
