Acquiring the Flare Knife
The Flare Knife is surprisingly accessible early in the game. Once you achieve Level 003 Code Clearance, visit Zakka in The Warren. Zakka's inventory includes the Flare Knife, purchasable for 3,000 Entitlement Points. Equip it via the Loadout menu in the Personal Responsibility Portal, selecting an available Combat Item slot.
Utilizing the Flare Knife
The Flare Knife is a reusable tool specifically designed for severing Abductor limbs. This offers an alternative for players favoring Polearms or Heavy Melee weapons, eliminating the need for Light Melee weapons solely for severing. However, remember it's a single-use item per operation; repurchase is necessary for subsequent missions.
To employ the Flare Knife, lock onto a severable Abductor limb. Use your Thorn to grapple onto the target area. With the Flare Knife equipped, a severing option will appear. A quick-time event (QTE) will initiate, requiring rapid button mashing. Successful completion severs the limb. Be aware of potential interruptions; Abductors may leap or crash to disrupt the process.
