Grand Theft Auto (GTA) 5 star Ned Luke fuels anticipation for GTA 6, predicting blockbuster sales and assuring fans the wait will be worthwhile. Discover Luke's insights and predictions regarding GTA 6's development and potential impact.
Rockstar Games' Unpredictable Approach to GTA 6
GTA 6: A $1.3 Billion Day-One Prediction
Ned Luke, the voice behind Michael De Santa in GTA 5, boldly predicts GTA 6 will generate a staggering $1.3 billion in its first 24 hours. In a recent interview with Fall Damage, Luke expressed his confidence in the game's success, emphasizing Rockstar Games' knack for the unexpected.
Luke reassured fans, stating, "Be patient. It's going to be worth the wait. From what I've seen, it's going to be amazing." He highlighted GTA 5's impressive $800 million day-one earnings in 2013, suggesting GTA 6 will significantly surpass that record. Market research firm DFC Intelligence supports this optimism, forecasting over 40 million copies sold and $3.2 billion in first-year revenue, with $1 billion attributed to pre-orders alone.
The Return of Familiar Faces? GTA 5 Characters in GTA 6
Luke also offered insights into the possibility of GTA 5 characters appearing in GTA Online and potentially GTA 6. He noted Michael's absence from GTA Online, contrasting with Trevor and Franklin's appearances.
Luke hinted at Michael's potential return in a hypothetical final GTA Online DLC or even a role in GTA 6. While Steven Ogg (Trevor in GTA 5) previously suggested a "passing the torch" scenario involving Trevor's demise, Luke remained coy: "Maybe [Michael, Franklin, and Trevor will be] in GTA 6, like [its online mode]. Maybe. Maybe not. You know Rockstar is not going to tell you anything." Despite the actors' enthusiasm, official confirmation remains elusive.
GTA 6: Entering the Testing Phase?
Former Rockstar Games animator Mike York suggests GTA 6 is likely undergoing internal testing. In a since-deleted interview with YouTuber Kiwi Talkz, York highlighted the game's unique unpredictability, stating, "There are a lot of things that can happen that you don't really think about until some random kid in his basement tries it."
York believes the game is in the in-house testing phase, adding, "They're probably still putting in a little work and throwing in little extras." He speculates the game is playable and extensive internal testing is underway.
Following its December 2023 teaser trailer, Rockstar Games has remained tight-lipped about GTA 6. While a Fall 2025 release was previously suggested, based on Take-Two Interactive's 2024 financial report, an official release date remains unconfirmed.
