Netflix Games is losing two Grand Theft Auto titles next month. Grand Theft Auto III and Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will be removed from the Netflix Games catalog on December 13th.
Why are these games leaving?
This isn't a surprise; Netflix licenses games similarly to movies and TV shows. The 12-month licensing agreement between Netflix and Rockstar Games for these two titles is expiring. A "Leaving Soon" notification will appear in-game before their removal.
What happens after December 13th?
After the removal date, Netflix subscribers will no longer have access to GTA III and Vice City. However, both titles (and the entire trilogy) are available for purchase on the Google Play Store. Individual games cost $4.99, while the complete trilogy is $11.99.
Unlike previous removals from Netflix Games, users are receiving advance notice. This is notable, especially considering the GTA trilogy contributed significantly to Netflix Games' subscriber growth in 2023.
Future possibilities:
Rumors suggest Rockstar and Netflix are collaborating on potential future projects. Remastered versions of Liberty City Stories, Vice City Stories, and even Chinatown Wars are being speculated.
