No DRM in Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Won't Have Denuvo DRMFollowing player speculation, Warhorse Studios has officially stated that their upcoming medieval RPG, Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2, will not include any form of digital rights management (DRM). In a recent Twitch stream, PR head Tobias Stolz-Zwilling addressed the ongoing confusion and misinformation surrounding the game's DRM status.

Stolz-Zwilling explicitly stated, "KCD 2 will not have Denuvo, or any DRM system at all. We never confirmed otherwise. There were discussions, some miscommunication, but ultimately, there will be no Denuvo." He urged players to cease inquiries about DRM, emphasizing that any unconfirmed reports are inaccurate. He added, "As long as Warhorse doesn't announce something, it's not true."

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 Won't Have Denuvo DRMThe absence of DRM is welcome news to many gamers, as DRM is often associated with performance issues. Denuvo, in particular, has drawn criticism for its potential negative impact on gameplay, despite its role as anti-piracy software.

Denuvo's product manager, Andreas Ullmann, has acknowledged the negative perception surrounding the tool, attributing it to misinformation and confirmation bias, calling the backlash "toxic."

Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2 is set to release in February 2025 for PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. The game continues the story of Henry, a blacksmith-in-training, in medieval Bohemia, following the devastating events that befall his village. Players who contributed at least $200 to the KCD 2 Kickstarter campaign will receive a free copy of the game.
