For those eagerly awaiting news of The Last of Us Part III, renowned series creator Neil Druckmann has delivered a sobering update. In a recent interview with Variety, primarily focused on the TV series, Druckmann effectively dashed hopes of a third installment. When questioned about the possibility, his response was a definitive, albeit somewhat resigned, "I was waiting for this question," he sighed. "I guess the only thing I would say is don’t bet on there being more of ‘Last of Us.’ This could be it.”
While Druckmann's statement is certainly discouraging, it leaves room for interpretation. Naughty Dog is currently engrossed in the development of *Intergalactic*, announced at The Game Awards 2022, a project likely years from release. This intense focus on *Intergalactic* makes a concurrent *Last of Us Part III* development highly improbable in the near future. Druckmann might be strategically avoiding commitment, or perhaps his vision for the story is truly complete. Only time will tell.However, fans still have much to look forward to. The second season of the critically acclaimed The Last of Us TV series premieres April 13th on Max. Although Druckmann remains uncertain about the total number of seasons, an HBO executive hinted at a potential four-season run, encompassing the events of Part II.
