Charging your Nintendo Switch 2 Pro Controller will now take nearly half the time compared to the original model. As reported by Nintendo Life, Nintendo recently revealed the tech specs for the enhanced $84.99 Switch 2 Pro Controller, which now charges in approximately three-and-a-half hours when using the Nintendo Switch 2 AC adapter or the USB-C charging cable. This is a significant improvement over the six hours required for the original Pro Controller.
Even better, this faster charging time doesn't compromise the Pro Controller's impressive 40-hour battery life. The Switch 2 Pro Controller maintains the same 40-hour duration between charges as its predecessor. Additionally, it introduces a new C button, features two extra GL/GR buttons on the underside, and is designed to be slightly lighter and smaller than the original.

If you're still attached to your original controller, rest assured—Nintendo has confirmed that the original controller will be compatible with the new console system.
Nintendo officially introduced the Switch 2 during a 60-minute Nintendo Direct earlier this month. Initially, pre-orders were scheduled to open in early April in the U.S., but due to tariff-related uncertainties, Nintendo delayed the pre-order date to April 24. Amidst the delay, Nintendo confirmed that the $449.99 price for the Switch 2 console and its games would remain unchanged, though prices were raised on most Switch 2 accessories, with the Switch 2 Pro Controller increasing from $80 to $85.
