PS5 and Switch Releases Pending
Announced during the Xbox showcase at Tokyo Game Show 2024, Threads of Time is currently in development for Xbox Series X/S and PC (Steam). While a release date remains unconfirmed, PS5 and Nintendo Switch versions haven't been ruled out.
Generating considerable buzz, Threads of Time is poised to rival Sea of Stars as a spiritual successor to Square Enix's Chrono series. Riyo Games' debut title promises a captivating retro-style experience.
"Riyo Games aims to create retro-inspired RPGs that evoke cherished childhood memories," the studio stated in its press release. "Our journey began with a childhood pact – two friends playing RPGs by a CRT TV, dreaming of one day crafting their own epic adventures."
Boasting stunning 2.5D pixel art, Threads of Time follows a diverse cast of characters across various eras, from dinosaurs to robots. The overarching narrative involves a centuries-spanning conspiracy threatening the very fabric of time. Complementing the pixel art are high-quality anime cutscenes that enrich the storyline.
The party includes intriguing members like Rye (a swordsman from 1000 AD), Bo (a veterinarian from 12,000,000 BC), Rin (a kitsune from 2400 AD), and more.
