Pocketpair's Palworld, renowned for its expansive open-world exploration, continues to captivate players since its January 2024 launch. The Feybreak DLC significantly expanded the game, introducing numerous crafting materials, including the valuable Dark Fragments. These aren't as common as Paldium, making them a sought-after resource for crafting high-tier accessories.
How to Obtain Dark Fragments in Palworld
Dark Fragments are exclusively found on Feybreak Island. To acquire them, you must hunt or capture Dark-elemental Pals. Note that Dark-elemental Pals from other islands won't yield Dark Fragments. The coastal areas of Feybreak predominantly feature ground and water-type Pals; you'll need to venture inland to locate Dark-elemental Pals. Some, like Starryon, are nocturnal unless encountered as boss variants.
Defeating or capturing these Pals (using Ultimate or Exotic Spheres is recommended) yields 1-3 Dark Fragments per encounter. The drop isn't guaranteed, but diligent hunting should provide a sufficient supply.
The following Dark-elemental Pals drop Dark Fragments. Boss and predator variants exist in various locations:

While less reliable, single Dark Fragments may randomly appear on the ground across Feybreak. Thorough exploration is key, but remember that frequent combat will deplete ammo, potentially hindering other challenges like defeating Bjorn, the island's Tower Boss.
Utilizing Dark Fragments in Palworld
Dark Fragments, though valuable, aren't used in a vast array of recipes. They are primarily components in specialized saddles, accessories for specific Pals, and certain character boots (dash and jump enhancements).
The following items require Dark Fragments. You must first unlock their schematics in the Technology Menu (or Ancient Technology Menu) using Technology Points, and possess the necessary machines and materials:
