Palworld 0.5.0 Update: Crossplay, Blueprint Upgrades, Photo Mode Added

by Dylan May 03,2025

Palworld's latest update, version 0.5.0, brings an exciting array of new features, including crossplay across all platforms. This groundbreaking update allows players to connect and play together regardless of their chosen device, enhancing the game's community and social experience. Another significant addition is the Global Palbox, which enables players to store Pal data and transfer Pals between different worlds, offering unprecedented flexibility in managing your Pal collection.

The update introduces the Dimensional Pal Storage, boasting ten times the capacity of the regular Palbox. This new system not only serves as a shared resource for guild members but can also be configured for private use, providing a robust solution for Pal and item management. Additionally, the cosmetic armour system, accessible via the Antique Dresser, lets players alter their character's appearance without impacting their armour stats, allowing for greater personalization and style in the game.

Photography enthusiasts will appreciate the new Photo Mode, which can be accessed through the Pal Command Wheel. This feature allows players to hide the UI and freely move the camera to capture stunning in-game moments. The Drafting Table is another new addition, enabling players to combine low-rarity blueprints to create higher-rarity ones, enhancing the crafting and building experience.

Dedicated servers for Mac are now available, ensuring a smoother experience for Mac users. The update also includes various specification adjustments, such as allowing buildings to be placed even if they overlap with a Pal, and improving the alignment of connected foundations and roofs. Assigning an Ice Pal to the Flea Market will slow down item decay, and new torches at dungeon entrances improve visibility, making exploration more enjoyable.

Balance adjustments have been made to enhance gameplay, including changes to elemental chest rewards, increased EXP from defeating the Attack Chopper, and improved DPS for Flamethrowers. NPCs now have more dynamic behavior and work suitability, adding depth to the game's social and economic systems. The update also addresses various bugs, improving overall stability and player experience.

Developer Pocketpair is not resting on its laurels, as they are actively working on dedicated servers for the PlayStation 5 version, with plans to release them in the future. Since its early access launch in January 2024, Palworld has attracted an astounding 32 million players, and the studio has outlined a comprehensive content roadmap for 2025, promising an "ending scenario" and more new content to keep the community engaged.

Launched on Steam for $30 and included in Game Pass for Xbox and PC, Palworld broke sales and concurrent player number records upon release. Pocketpair's CEO, Takuro Mizobe, noted the overwhelming success and the challenge of managing the massive profits generated. The studio quickly capitalized on this success by signing a deal with Sony to form Palworld Entertainment, aiming to expand the IP and bring the game to PS5.

However, the game's success has not been without controversy. Palworld faces a lawsuit from Nintendo and The Pokémon Company, alleging infringement on multiple patent rights. Pocketpair has responded by adjusting how players summon Pals and is prepared to defend its position in court.
