Finnish game developer Supercell has surprised fans with a major announcement. Following the cancellation of their RPG, Clash Heroes, they've revealed Project R.I.S.E., a revitalized version of the game. This isn't simply a relaunch; it's a complete overhaul.
The Inside Scoop
Clash Heroes is officially discontinued. Confirming earlier rumors, Supercell has shelved the project, similar to their previous title, Clash Mini. However, the spirit of Clash Heroes lives on in Project R.I.S.E., a social action RPG roguelite set within the familiar Clash universe.
Supercell's announcement video features game lead Julien Le Cadre, who frankly states, "Clash Heroes is dead. That's the bad news," before revealing the good news: Project R.I.S.E. is a multiplayer-focused action RPG.
For more details, watch the announcement video:
Project R.I.S.E. shares DNA with Clash Heroes but is a distinct experience. It's a social action RPG roguelite, rebuilt from the ground up. Players team up in groups of three to explore The Tower, a mysterious location. Each playthrough focuses on a different floor, with the objective of reaching the highest level possible. Unlike its predecessor, the emphasis is on cooperative multiplayer gameplay with a diverse cast of characters, shifting away from solo PvE dungeons.
Currently in pre-alpha, Project R.I.S.E. is scheduled for its first playtest in early July 2024. Registration is open on the official website for a chance to participate.
