Snapchat's 2024 Snap Recap: A Year in Review
Looking back on the past year? Many apps offer year-end recaps, and Snapchat's new 2024 Snap Recap is a fun way to revisit your 2024 memories.
What is a Snap Recap?
Unlike Spotify Wrapped or Twitch recaps which focus on detailed statistics, the Snap Recap offers a more casual overview. It selects a single Snap from each month of the year, creating a slideshow of your highlights (and perhaps a few cringeworthy moments!). The recap seamlessly transitions into the Memories feature, allowing you to explore further flashbacks from previous years.
Accessing Your 2024 Snap Recap
Your 2024 Snap Recap is automatically generated. To view it:
- From the main Snapchat camera screen, swipe upwards to access Memories. (Do not press the shutter button.)
- Locate the highlighted "Your 2024 Snap Recap" video. It's usually prominently displayed.
- Tap the recap (avoiding the share icon) to begin playback. The recap automatically scrolls through your selected Snaps. You can tap the screen to advance more quickly.
Sharing and Saving Your Recap
You can save, edit, or share your Snap Recap like any other Snap, including posting it to your Story. It remains private unless you choose to share it.
Why Don't I Have a Snap Recap?
If your Snap Recap isn't appearing, there are a few possibilities:
- Rollout Timing: Snap Recaps are released gradually. Yours may simply not be ready yet.
- Snap Usage: The number of saved Snaps is a factor. Infrequent Snapchat usage might prevent a recap from being generated.
- No Request Option: Unfortunately, you can't request a recap if one isn't automatically created.
